The All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria has replaced the former Senatorial Candidate for Ebonyi South Zone, Mrs. Blessing Egbedi. She voluntarily withdrew from the race for the party’s interest with Ifeanyi Eleje.

The party did the replacement with the approval of both the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the APGA National body, and that of the withdrawn candidate.

They conducted the replacement at the party’s State Secretariat in Abakaliki, the State capital.

The Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Ebonyi South Senatorial district for the 2023 general elections, Egbedi, said she withdrew to ensure equity in the party.

Egbedi thanked the people of the Senatorial district for their support and commitment to her political project. Noting her passion fueled her desire to contest for an elective position to see the people have better living conditions.

“As we all know, politics is about balancing the power equation to accommodate other parts of the State and ensure victory for a political party desirous of triumph.

“This is at the heart of the key changes ongoing in our beloved Party, and it is all for our benefit and indeed that of the State as we approach the ballot in the 2023 general elections,” She informed

The APGA State Chairman, Mr. Ricky Okorouka, said the party has communicated with INEC about the recent development and has gotten directives from the superior authorities.

“The party’s National leadership has also instructed us on what to do, to do what is needed on the state level, and then send it across to the National body who will now upload it to the INEC portal.”

The Gubernatorial Candidate who is also the leader of the APGA in the State, Professor Benard Odoh, said, “we had Mrs. Blessing Egbedi who was running for the Senatorial position for the Southern zone of the State, she has withdrawn from the race and allowed the party to choose someone whom the party has deemed feet and credible to replace her in the person of Chief Ifeanyi Eleje.

“We have two other persons who have also withdrawn, and we have two people who will replace them, but we will respect their privacy at the edge and allow the party to proceed.

“But the key most important is that we have successively received the letters of those who have withdrawn and they will communicate to the accordingly.”

Chief Ifeanyi Eleje, the replaced candidate in Ebonyi South Senatorial zone, appreciated the party, calling for formidable unity in the party, “APGA is our own; if there is anything we need to do to fortify our area, we must do it from APGA.”
