The Nigerian House of Representatives, says sixteen states and the Federal Capital Territory are to experience acute food shortage in 2022.

This was contained in a motion of urgent national importance moved by Rep Rimande Shawulu.

He said that the food shortage is occasioned by the activities of bandits and kidnappers who prevent people from going to the farm.

He said farmers have abandoned their farmlands as terrorists always lay siege for the farmers.

He said that Nigeria ranks one hundred and eighty two out of one hundred and eighty in the human development index.

He also called on the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, National Emergency Management Agency and other relevant agencies to take steps to checkmate the impending food shortage in the country.
