The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria has warmed the Corps members of 2022 batch ‘B’ stream ‘II’ to avoid the use of Social media in causing havoc within the society.
This was contained in the address of NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Mohammed Fadah who was represented by the States Coordinator Mrs Mercy Bamai during the closing ceremony of the Corps member’s orientation course at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp at Old MacGregor College Afikpo North Local Government Area of the State.
“I urge you to avoid using social media for ethnic jingoism, rumour peddling and the promotion of hatred. Instead, your activities online should be targeted at self-improvement as well as promotion of the unity, peace and prosperity of our dear country”. Brigadier General Fadah, said.
The DG therefore, enjoined all the Corps members to continue to be law-abiding while also serving as role models for the younger ones.
Consequently, Fadah further advised them to avoid being speculative on issues affecting the NYSC, instead, visit your website, social media platforms and other official channels for clarifications.
“Let me use this medium to thank the Federal Government for its unwavering support for the Scheme. Our appreciation also goes to State Governments, Local Government Councils and Security Agencies”. Fadah added.
The total number of the Corps members that participated in this 2022 batch are 887, out of which 359 are Males while 528 are females
