President Buhari Inaugurates Revenue Mobilization Commission’s Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn-in a new Chairman for Nigeria’s Revenue Mobilization, Allocation Commission, Mohammed Bello Shehu.

The Chairman was sworn-in on Wednesday, at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, just before the commencement of this week’s cabinet meeting.

In an interview with State House Correspondents, Bello pledged to work hard to assist the country gain more revenue within the confines of available laws.

“I can assure the President that the Commission as one of the 14 constitutional Commissions will do what it takes to assist him get more revenues before he leaves office next year and also ensure we maintain our independence as enshrined in the constitution,” he said.

He also said the Commission would collaborate with all stakeholders, to ensure that Nigeria strengthens its monetary mechanisms.

The appointment of Bello follows the resignation of the immediate past Chairman, Elias Mbam, who had gone ahead to contest the gubernatorial primary election for Abia State.

Meanwhile, President Buhari is presiding over a virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Those physically attending are the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari as well as the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasshade Yemi-Esan.

Others are Ministers of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Finance, Budget and national Planning, Zainab Ahmed, Justice, Abubakar Malami and Power, Abubakar Aliyu, among others.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also joined the meeting virtually from his official residence in Abuja.
