The ruling All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Southwest Nigeria has started its campaign ahead of the Local Government poll on Saturday, calling Voters to prioritise the exercise.

Addressing party faithful, the State Chairman, Gboyega Famodun urged the electorates to turn out massively to vote on Saturday, saying “the local government areas and wards are the grassroots where the dividends of democracy are much felt.”

Famodun urged them to be peaceful and maintain good conduct on election day, when Ward Councilors and Local Government Chairmen would be chosen.

“We the APC believe in ourselves. We are usually orderly and peaceful, we are still the one in power.

He said;”I urge those who contested but couldn’t emerge as councillors and chairmen to remain calm, we must remain united.

“I am here today to remind you to campaign at your various wards and local government areas for votes. Go to your various communities and canvass for votes. The last election has gone. Let’s focus on the next election. Saturday’s local government election remains a tonic that will revive the party.”

Famodun commended the citizens, particularly the party members for remaining calm in the face of provocation before and since July 16. poll, urging the party flagbearers to fly the flag around and use it to canvass for votes.

Victory at tribunal

The Chairman enjoined the party faithful to be prayerful and be confident of victory at the governorship Election Tribunal.

He insisted the APC was not defeated at the poll, “If you are told our party lost at the last governorship election, tell them that you were not defeated and that the work of the Lord is still in progress.

“If anyone thinks we lost the July 16 election, we did not lose the election. How did we lose when the opposition party was discovered to have won in polling units that had over-voting”

Famodun noted that the ruling party lost three times at the courts before it retrieved its mandate in 2010, praying that the same God who granted the party victory then, will also assist them at the tribunal this time.
