The United States Agency For International Development (USAID)-Integrated Health Program (IHP) in partnership with Ebonyi State Government has engaged Journalists on a-2 day training on State Health Financing Landscape. The training is to Empower Journalists to help in increasing the awareness of public expenditure trends in Ebonyi State.

The USAID-IHP Officer in charge of Health Financing and Universal Health Coverage, Chidinma Eneze disclosed this in her address during the training in Abakaliki the State capital. Eneze said the training is targeted at making all and sundry to know about health insurance Schemes and how to access the facilities without hindrances.
USAID-IHP Objectives
Eneze further informed that IHP wants to increase media awareness of public expenditure trends in Ebony state. “Increase media awareness of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund BHCPF implementation in Ebony state, including sources and flow of fund… Increase media awareness of the Ebony State Health Insurance Scheme and enable media outlets accurately differentiate between SHIS and BHCPF”
She said it is also targeted on how to improve capacity to conduct evidence-based reporting of health financing activities in the state and how to serve as catalysts for improved transparency, accountability and increased public health funding.
The USAID-IHP Officer in charge of Knowledge Management Specialist, Mr Uche Anoke urged the Journalists to do all they can to ensure that Universal Health Coverage is Acheived both on the side of Government and that of the masses.
On her part, the Executive Secretary of Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency (EBSHIA), Professor Uzoma Agwu said the State Insurance Agency has provided Health services to over 36,000 Vulnerable Ebonyi people. Professor Agwu urged people in the State to come and register in the Insurance Agency as it is affordable and accessible.
