Sokoto State Deputy Governor debunks rumour of defection

The Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has debunked rumours of his plan to defect from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC.

Manir Dan’iya stated this to journalists shortly after a meeting with the local government party stakeholders in Sokoto State.

The local government stakeholders are from Binji, Silame and Sokoto South local government and are among the constituency he is vying for the Sokoto North Senatorial seat.

According to him, the rumour was only a plan to facilitate division within the party.

“As you said rumour, so you should wait and see when that is going to happen,” he noted.

He explained that the local government stakeholders meeting was part of the party campaign council commitments to re-strategise and resolve all challenges ahead of the 2023 general elections.

He described the initiative as welcome development that would provide an avenue to resolve all pending issues and move towards the successes of the party at all levels in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

He urged People’s Democratic Party Supporters to continue to be patient and continue to mobilise support for the party.

The Deputy Governor further called on party supporters to always follow due process and be law-abiding, especially during political activities across the State.
