Kwara to convert state general Hospital to teaching Hospital

The Kwara Government says it has concluded arrangements to convert the Ilorin General Hospital to a teaching hospital for the newly approved Medical School of the state university.

 

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razaq, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the 45th Annual Scientific Conference and General Meeting of the Nigerian Orthopaedics Association in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

 

Doctor Razaq who stated that the government would accomplish the plan on schedule, explained that government had embarked on upgrading the Ilorin general hospital with the state-of-the-art equipment as part of plans to accomplish its goals.

 

He said the present government has established two Intensive Care Units (ICU) and equipped them with the latest equipment to take care of critical cases.

 

Doctor Razaq also disclosed that the governor recently approved the employment of about one hundred and twenty-five health workers, including medical doctors, apart from the five hundred health personnel that were earlier engaged.

 

The commissioner added that the present administration is revamping and renovating health facilities across the state with modern equipment, to reverse medical tourism in the state and make Kwara state a haven for people seeking medical healthcare services.
