Edo LG Polls: APC optimistic of good outing
The Edo chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it will coast to victories if the 2023 local government election in the state is free, fair and credible.
The state Secretary of the party, Mr Lawrence Okah, who stated this on Sunday in Benin added that the party was well prepared and looked forward to a free and fair election, where people would be allowed to come and vote.
Recall that the State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) fixed September 2nd for the local government election in the state.
“We are preparing very well and we are here seeking one, free and fair election; two, people will be allowed to come and vote and three, results will be declared as appropriate,” he said.
The APC scribe said he was not doubting the capacity and integrity of the state electoral body, considering the calibre of the members.
“I would not want to condemn the state electoral commission because it never conducted any election before.
“However, the board has as members retired judges and retired Head of Service. They have their integrity on the line and I believe they will do just to all manner of persons in the election,” said Okah.
The secretary, who disagreed that the election would judge the 2024 gubernatorial election in the state, however, maintained that the expectation of every Edo citizen is changing for the good and APC in the right party.
He said with the strategies of President Bola Tinubu in the last two months, every Nigerian had realised that a true democrat is at the helm of affairs.
