He said, “When fully operational, the facility would offer 24 hour services for IVF cases, out patients, health insurance, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology as well as mild surgeries at affordable rates, particularly for low income earners.”
According to the CMD, he inherited expired drugs worth over one hundred million Naira in the Pharmaceutical Unit of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital which would be publicly destroyed by Management of the hospital during the weekend.
He assured Benue citizens that the facility would offer the best and affordable medical services they desire under the Governor Alias Administration.
Dr. Hwande expressed appreciation to Governor Hyacinth Alia for his interest in the healthy wellbeing of Benue people, pointing out that his proactiveness was the reason why the Federal Government did not take back the hospital from the State Government due to under utilization.
He noted that, “Not withstanding the status of the Teaching Hospital as a tertiary facility, the hospital would utilize its manpower to supervise and assist secondary and primary health facilities across the state to improve the health condition of the state.”
The Chief Medical Director expressed concern that with the humongous number of Internally Displaced Persons in the state, there was no justification for such amount of drugs to have expired while the people needed medical attention.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the Hospital, Dr. Luper Uva said although the hospital was built for only women and children, the new Chief Medical Director, found it wise to add a General Outpatients Department to enable all categories of health services to be carried out at the facility.
Dr. Uva thanked the Chief Medical Director for ensuring that the hospital operates as an electronic medical record facility which would make services efficient and easier.
