The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has apprehended three suspects caught transporting stolen railway parts in Nasarawa State, highlighting stepped-up efforts to combat vandalism of critical infrastructure.

According to the National Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Chief Superintendent Babawale Afolabi, the arrest was made possible based on an intelligence tip-off; the CG’s SIS promptly swung into action to apprehend the three suspects and foiled their criminal moves.

“We were alerted through an intelligence tip-off that some economic saboteurs of government efforts at revamping the rail transport sector have vandalised some rail tracks, loaded large quantities of railway slippers in long container trucks through the Kafanchan axis of Kaduna State.

“Without wasting time, we swung into action and intercepted the truck; the following suspects were arrested.

“The suspects were arrested at the Keffi flyover in Nasarawa State while conveying a truckload of railway slippers in very large quantities, he stated.

To ensure that justice is served, the suspects are currently in our custody and will be charged in court at the end of a thorough investigation. He noted.

“Some of the suspects are already cooperating with us in our investigation and we will not spare anyone who is connected with the unscrupulous business, no matter who the individuals are. We will fish them out, he affirmed.
