The Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Gidado Muktar, made the commendation while addressing newsmen at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Centre in Kano.

He described the relocation of the market as the best thing that would happen to the state.

”We are calling on all the pharmaceutical firms at Mohammad Abubakar Rimi Market to comply with the government directives to relocate to the new facility without delay.

“The menace of illicit drugs will no longer be tolerated in Kano as it is destroying the future of our youths and society in general. We wish to reassure all and sundry that Kano, as a cosmopolitan city, will continue to remain hospitable and welcome all.

“However, we will not allow anyone to perpetrate any activity inimical to the well-being of our people.

“We call on government and law enforcement agencies not to relent in their efforts to ensure that traders relocate to the Dangwauro Market as directed.”

Muktar added that the safety of Nigerians, their health and well-being is very important to the current administration, adding, “The open market system in Sabon Gari market is chaotic, and that is the route through which a lot of substandard and illicit drugs get to our population and youths, damaging their future.”

According to him, the drug distribution system is an essential element in improving the safety and efficacy of the medications that the population consumes and called on drug dealers to comply with the guidelines and provisions of the regulatory laws.
