President Tinubu Reconstitutes NELMCO Board

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the Board of the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO), with the Minister of Power, Adelabu Adebayo, now serving as the Chairman of the Electricity Company.

This decision underscores the paramount importance of NELMCO within the intricate framework of the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

Other modifications to the NELMCO Board structure also authorize the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to serve as NELMCO Board Vice-Chairman

Members of the Board include the Director-General, Debt Management Office, and the Director-General, Bureau of Public Enterprises.

According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Mrs. Mojoyinoluwa Dekalu-Thomas of NELMCO is now appointed as the Managing Director/CEO, and she is to serve for a five-year term.

Others appointed to serve for five five-year terms are Mr. Joseph Asuku Bello; NELMCO Executive Director, Asset Management, and Mr. Hassan Yahya; NELMCO Executive Director, Corporate Services.

Also appointed to serve in the Non-Executive Director capacity at NELMCO for a three-year tenure are Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya and Prof. (Mrs.) Ayanfemi Ayandele.

Ngelale further stated that the President expects that the composition of the board will yield expeditious and measurable progress in the management of the power sector’s post-privatization liabilities while creating conditions for the sustainable attainment of world-class standards of operational efficiency across all sub-components of the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
