Nigeria@64: Kano State Governor Harps on Patriotism

The Kano state Governor in North West Nigeria, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has encouraged Nigerians to embrace patriotism for greater nation-building.

The Governor gave the charge in Sani Abacha Stadium, at an event to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary Celebration in Kano.

Governor Yusuf also called on Nigerians to emulate the sacrifices made by the founding fathers to uplift the well-being of the people of the state and the nation.

He said Nigeria’s founding fathers who struggled for the country’s independence sacrificed a lot, hence Nigerians should put efforts together to ensure that the labour of the heroes past does not go in vain.

The governor Felicitates the people of Kano State and the Nation at large for witnessing yet another anniversary of Nigeria’s independence.

He said that despite the challenges along these sixty-four years of the nation’s independence, it is worthy of celebration.

The Governor noted that his administration would not relent in ensuring that more laudable projects are being provided to the general populace to move the state forward.

He said, “We’ve declared a state of emergency on education with a view to restoring the lost glory of the sector and our decision has started yielding positive results.”

Governor Yusuf maintained that much priority was accorded to sectors of Health, Agriculture, Tourism, and youth empowerment.

There was a colourful parade by the Army, police, and other paramilitary personnel during the anniversary celebration which was inspected by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The anniversary event was attended by the Emirs of Kano, Rano, and Gaya, members of the state executive council, and other senior Government officials.

 

Similarly, a Group known as ‘I am Nigerian Project’ held a special rally in honour of Nigeria at 64.

The convener, Mr. Shamsuddeen Ahmad said the essence was to celebrate Nigeria’s progress despite the numerous challenges.

He advocated for Nigeria to focus on youth-oriented policies, food security, and industrialization in the coming years.

“I am Nigeria project is an initiative that promotes Nigeria’s Unity and social cohesion and a day like this calls for Nigeria’s celebration.”
