President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio says the legacies of the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State; Patience Eno will be well cherished by the people of the State because she touched lives while on earth.

Akpabio was speaking to Voice of Nigeria soon after the funeral of the late First Lady in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

He says: “It is a very mournful occasion. We are all in pain and we are at a loss as to why God chose to take her so early in life but you know we cannot question the will of God.

“I have sent my message of condolences and I have told the Governor that he should cry but he should do so as a Christian who knows that death is inevitable but one day we shall meet to part no more.

“We can’t question the will of God. She was a very virtuous woman and a very dutiful woman.”

The Senator President used the opportunity to pray that God would give the State another First Lady like the late Patience Eno.

“For the brief period she stayed as First Lady, we learnt a lot from her; a woman of wisdom, very enterprising, self-made, not cocky in anyway, unassuming and somebody who believed in doing good, using her Foundation; Giver, to touch the lives of the less privileged and the vulnerable in the society.

“My prayer is that God should accept her soul in heaven, forgive her of any earthly sin, if any, comfort the family and grant us the fortitude to bear the loss. And of course, let us pray also that we shall have another replacement in the person of Patience Umo Eno. She was a great woman and may her soul rest in perfect peace,” he prayed.

Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, who also spoke to Journalists, reminded Nigerians to always think of death because it is inevitable.

“Death is something that comes from God therefore, whenever death visits us, we should be patient with the will of God and accept His will,” he advised.

Barau called on the people of Akwa Ibom State and women in general to emulate the good works of the late Mrs Eno, who served humanity while she was alive.

“We have heard that she was a very kind woman that showed compassion and did a lot for the less privileged. We pray that God will comfort her husband, the entire family and all those whom she touched their lives,” the Deputy President of the Senate added.
