Kwara State: Nigerian Customs Service lauds commissioning of tractors
Tunde Akanbi, Ilorin.
The Customs Area Controller, Kwara Area Command, Comptroller H. B. Ahmed, says the commissioning of fifteen (15) new tractors by the Kwara State Government will not only help the service in suppression of smuggling of foreign rice, but will equally discourage the importation of same into the State and the country at large.
The Area comptroller stated this while congratulating the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq on his second year anniversary in office.
According to him, the several modern farm implements effectively give bite to the mechanization component of the recently launched State agricultural transformation plan, which will equally boost food security.
“On Wednesday the 26th of May, 2021 the whole world watched as you commissioned fifteen (15) new tractors and several modern farm implements, effectively giving bite to the mechanization component of the recently launched State agricultural transformation plan to boost food security”, he said.
According to him, the State will continue to reap the benefit of the Customs joint initiatives in the field of security and economic activities.
The Customs boss, therefore, solicited for continued cooperation and collaboration with the State government in discharging their responsibilities of Suppression of Smuggling, Trade Facilitation and Revenue collection in the State.
