NGX: Investors resume new trading week with N94 billion gain

Equities trading on the Nigerian Exchange closed in the positive on Monday as market capitalization advanced by N94 billion to close at N20.034 trillion.

 

The All-share Index appreciated by 0.47% or 180.93 points to close at 38,437.88 compared to 38,256.75 recorded at the close of trading last week.

 

The market sentiment was, however, negative as 16 stocks appreciated, while 24 stocks declined.

 

Top on the gainers’ list for the day was MRS with share price appreciation of N1.10k to close at N12.60k, followed by Vitafoam with N0.90k price appreciation to close at N11.00k. Next was Chams, which appreciated by N0.01k to close at N0.21k.

 

On the other hand, Royal Exchange declined by N0.08k to close at N0.73, emerging as bottom loser and was followed by Chiplc, which shed N0.07k to close at N0.66k; Neimeth lost N0.16k to close at N1.72k.

 

Veritas Kapital Assurance recorded the highest volume of 29.7 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (24.47million), Zenith Bank (20.93million) and Access Bank (15.4million).

 

At the end of Monday’s trading, 201.857 million shares worth N2.119 billion were exchanged in 3,827 deals.
