Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has acknowledged the significant contributions of women to the nation’s development.

She emphasised that women have played a crucial role in various sectors, advancing the country’s growth and progress.

This recognition highlights the importance of empowering women and continuing to support their involvement in shaping Nigeria’s future.

She made the remark in an interview with State House Correspondents, in commemoration of the 2025 International Women’s Day.

Mrs Tinubu urged women not to relent in their effort to achieve their dreams.

“This is an opportunity to say ‘happy women’s day.’ The theme is centered on the Beijing Conference, after so many decades. What have we done as women?

“Women have come a long way even from the entire matrix of old, they have contributed and up till now women are doing phenomenal things. Look at our little Zuriel Oduwole, (who has been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize) just an advocacy champion of what good she felt could be about peace,

“Women I celebrate you, keep doing what you have to do, lift your heads high, happy International women’s Day,” she said.

The First Lady added that she believes that Nigerian youths have what it takes to achieve greatness.
