Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed her support for women-led national empowerment initiatives.
Speaking at the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, She described Nigerian women as a decisive force in shaping the country’s political and socio-economic direction.
Addressing a large gathering of women from all six geo-political zones and the Federal Capital Territory, she underscored the scale and unity of the movement, stating:
“The strength we see here today is not symbolic; it is a national declaration that Nigerian women are organised, focused, and fully prepared to shape the direction of this country with one voice and one purpose.”
She commended the leadership of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development under Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, linking ongoing empowerment initiatives to a clear directive focused on economic inclusion:
“I told her, ‘Go and put money in the hands of women,’ and this empowerment and many other initiatives of the Ministry are a demonstration of her commitment to that charge.”
Reinforcing the policy thrust of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, she highlighted women’s centrality to governance and national growth, noting:
“The Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has prioritised women’s inclusion in governance, ensuring that women have a seat at the table and a voice in the rooms where decisions are made.”
The First Lady also reaffirmed presidential recognition of women’s contributions to nation-building, quoting:
“Nigeria’s progress has always carried the imprint of women who refused to accept limits placed before them. From those who fought for our democracy to the millions who labour daily to support their families and communities, their contributions to nation-building are profound. … When Nigerian women rise, Nigeria rises.”
Receiving the Women’s Charter presented at the rally, she assured participants of its transmission to the President and its policy relevance:
“I have received your charter, and I assure you that I will deliver it to Mr President. This is our Charter, and we will see it to fruition.”
She acknowledged the resilience of Nigerian women amid ongoing economic reforms, particularly during fuel subsidy removal, describing the current period as foundational for long-term national prosperity.

The First Lady urged sustained commitment to family values, child development, and nation-building, positioning women as custodians of societal continuity and transformation.
The rally concluded with a unifying call for collective action under the banner of shared purpose, reinforcing women’s role as a decisive constituency in shaping Nigeria’s future trajectory.
