Anambra State has graduated 480 young people trained in robotics, internet service engineering, and startup development as part of efforts to build a technology-driven economy and strengthen its position as an emerging innovation hub in Africa.
The graduates include 300 robotics trainees, 100 internet service provider (ISP) network engineers, and 80 startup entrepreneurs.
The training was conducted through the state’s technology skills programme coordinated by the Solution Innovation District (SID). The graduation ceremony in Awka also featured funding support for selected startups.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo said technology remains at the heart of his administration’s plan to transform Anambra into “Africa’s Silicon Valley.”
According to the governor, initiatives such as the Solution Innovation District and the One Million Anambra Digital Tribe project are creating the foundation for a digital economy powered by innovation and technology.

He stressed that digital skills are increasingly important for young people seeking opportunities in the global economy and encouraged the graduates to use their knowledge to create businesses, solve problems, and contribute to economic growth.
Soludo also assured participants of continued government support to strengthen the state’s innovation ecosystem.

Beneficiaries
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation and Chief Executive Officer of SID, Chinwe Okoli, said the programme provides practical training, mentorship, technology infrastructure, and business support to help participants turn ideas into successful ventures.
Okoli disclosed that the state has exceeded its original target of training 10,000 people annually, with more than 30,000 residents already benefiting from various digital skills programmes since the initiative began.
She noted that stronger partnerships between government and the private sector would be essential for sustaining Anambra’s digital transformation efforts.
Supporting Economic Diversification
The technology training initiative is part of Anambra State Government’s broader strategy to diversify the economy, encourage innovation, and develop a skilled workforce capable of competing in regional and global technology industries.
