The Nigeria Police Force has commenced strategic deployment of personnel and operational assets to ensure a peaceful, secure, and credible electoral process in Ekiti State.
This was disclosed in a Media Release by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital ahead of the Ekiti State Gubernatorial election.
He said the Force remains committed to safeguarding lives, protecting electoral materials, and providing a secure environment for all stakeholders to exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation.

“I would like to inform you that the Nigerian Police Force intends to utilise a proactive and preventive model in order to ensure a peaceful election.
“Currently, the Inspector General of Police has deployed adequate personnel to cover polling units, coalition centers, and all other designated election facilities. We are going to provide physical security,” he said.
According to him, the mandate of the police is to secure the event and people as the allegiance of the force is to the constitution of Nigeria.
“We will also provide personal security, as well as the security of information and security of events. It’s an enormous task, but our neutrality mandate, comes to mind at a time like this to ensure that our loyalty, our allegiance is to the Constitution of the Federal Republic and not to any political faction. The media have a role to play in collaboration with the police,”the Police PRO explained
Interagency Consultative Committee
He noted that the Police and all other security agencies have set in motion interagency consultative committee on election security to ensure a uniform command of all the security agencies that will participate in the elections.
“On the Election Day, in order to have a successful election, there will be restriction of movement of persons. And so I urge all good people of Ekiti State to be rest assured that the Nigerian Police Force will provide a level playing field for all to come out en masse and exercise their franchise,” he added.
