Enyimba gifted N1mn for beating Al-Itihad in CAF CC
Enyimba FC of Aba have bagged N1 Million cash gift from former Abia Governor Orji Uzo Kalu.
They got this financial reward after beating Al-Itihad 2-0 in a CAF Confederations Cup match at the Enyimba International stadium.
Goals from Sadiq Abubakar and Victor Mbaoma have increased their chances of reaching the group stage.
The Chairman of Enyimba FC, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu acknowledged the donation.
“Senator Kalu had promised to reward the team with N1m for a win, and following Sunday’s result, has duly fulfilled the pledge.
“We are very thankful to the former Governor for remembering Enyimba at this crucial stage. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is a man whose love for football has never been in doubt, which is why he is a Pillar of Sports in Africa. His gift is a big boost to the players,” he said.
This match played in Aba was actually the second leg.
The first match was postponed because of strict COVID-19 travel restrictions that inhibited Enyimba from honouring the match.
