Niger state government in North Central Nigeria, has refuted claims of alleged ignoring parents of the recent abduction of Islamic School Pupils of Tegina Community in Rafi local government area of the State.
The Deputy Governor Of the state, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso Who stated this during an interaction with the media on Wednesday in Minna the State Capital,mentioned that the state government has been engaging with security agencies regarding the issue in the last few days.
“It is strategic for us not to have visited the families and people of Tegina but we are making frantic efforts”,added the Deputy Governor.
“We have been very disturbed. We cannot sit down without showing any sympathy. It is not possible for us to ignore the children who are still in captivity; however the Government cannot openly disclose its plans on the matter”.
Report shows that the Tegina Community lamented government’s attitude and stands on ransom payment saying their children have been left to their fates.
The head teacher of the Tegina Islamic School Mallam Abubakar G arba Alhassan, however disclosed to Voice Nigeria that the abducted Pupils are 148 in number said they are yet to be released as the ransom demanded has not been paid.
“Non of the state government officials either came to us or contacted us apart from the Rafi Local Government Chairman Who is always here to sympathized with us “.
The State government had earlier announced that it would not engaged for the negotiation of ransom payment for any kidnapped victim in the State.
The Niger State government recently announced the banning of Commercial motorcycles as well as illegal motor parks within the Capital City as a means of curtailing the spread of the ongoing insecurity in the State.
The banning of the commercial motorcycles in the Capital City, according to the state government is a test run on how security issues is to be tackle and will be gradually extended to other parts of the State .
