The overall criminal activity declined across the FCT and it’s environs, during the just concluded yuletide season, according to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

This, the Corps said was not unconnected with the synergy and collaborative efforts of security agencies in providing the needed security for public critical assets and residents of the FCT.

Making this assertion yesterday, the FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Mathias Ohieme, also commended the residents of the FCT for maintaining peace and order during the holidays.

Ohieme, in a press statement signed by Head, Public Relations Office PRO unit, Assistant Commandant Akinbinu David, disclosed that the Command would likely increase street patrols, to maintain and improve on the security outlook, so as to ensure a crime free 2021.

The statement reads: “As safety remains significant and a major concern, the NSCDC will not relent in taking the necessary steps and measures to ensure the safety of both lives and property of the people and the nation.

“And to that end, we are likely to increase patrols and deploy additional personnel within the territory this year to maintain and boost security.”

The Commandant however warned that the Corps would not renege in her effort of ensuring that public/national assets were protected from vandalism across the FCT.

He disclosed that a twenty-one (21) year jail term without option of fine awaits anyone caught in the act of vandalising National Assets.

He also admonished the residents to always exercise caution, to take extra steps to protect themselves and unattended residences.

He equally advised residents to promptly report any suspicious activity or persons to the nearest security post for further actions as well as comply strictly with the Covid 19 protocols of the Government.
