ACCI, NASRDA to organise Africa Space Economy Conference

In order to explore the benefits embedded in the space economy  and capture the economic benefits of the economy space sector, the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ACCI and the Nigerian National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA are set to organise the Maiden edition of the Africa Space Economy Conference 2023.

The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the Africa Space Economy Conference, Mr Osi Imomoh who disclosed this on the sidelines of 18th  Abuja International Trade Fair in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital said the event scheduled for 16th to 20th November 2023 has the theme: “Exploring Space Economy for Africa Economy Growth”.

He explained that the conference will serve as an opportunity to create awareness of the benefits of space economy for our everyday lives.

The conference will give practical tips and examples on how State Inland Revenue Agencies can increase their IGR immediately and enable their States to be self-sufficient, financially,” Mr Imomoh said.

The global space economy grew 8% to $546 billion in 2022 and is projected to climb another 41% over the next five years, according to a leading space nonprofit. Hence, there is a need to take advantage of this huge benefit.”

Director General of ACCI, Victoria Akai while speaking said Nigeria’s space program has achieved significant milestones over the years stating that conference is an opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its capabilities.

According to her, “This conference is coming at a critical juncture in our country’s development, and we are excited to tell you that we would have so many experts and thinkers to share their views and ideas.”

We will also hear from Nigerian entrepreneurs and innovators who are using space-based technologies to drive economic growth and create opportunities for our people.

We will learn from them and explore new ways for us to use space technology to solve some of our most pressing challenges.” She added.
