The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has reinforced its commitment to road safety and workforce professionalism with a two-day defensive driving and vehicle handling training for its drivers.
Held through the Business Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre, the programme focused on building drivers’ capacity in safety awareness, hazard management, effective communication, and professional conduct, with emphasis on reducing accidents and improving efficiency on the road.
The training featured expert-led sessions on defensive driving techniques, drivers’ roles and responsibilities, emotional intelligence, stress management, and post-incident response.
Participants also engaged in interactive discussions and case studies that allowed them to share experiences and translate theory into practical solutions for real-life driving challenges.
Addressing participants, the Director of the ACCI BEST Centre, Dr. Tinuke Temitope, stressed the importance of attentiveness and application of knowledge.
According to her, “This training is designed to help you become more professional, efficient, and safety-conscious drivers, and it is important that you apply these lessons in your daily duties.”
She noted that drivers play a critical role as representatives of their organisations, adding that improved driving behaviour enhances both safety and institutional image.
Certificates were presented to participants at the end of the programme, underscoring ACCI–BEST’s dedication to continuous capacity building, road safety, and professional excellence.
