The National Chairman of Accord, Malam Muhammad Nalado, has debunked rumours that the party has entered into alliance with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 11 governorship election.

Nalado disclosed this, on Wednesday, while reacting to what he described as misinformation that the party had entered into a pact to support Makinde’s re-election bid, noting that the information was far from the truth and the handiwork of political jobbers, whose lies are their stock in trade.

He maintained that the information reaching the National Executive of the party was that the Oyo State chairman had sold out, an action which he said would be met with stiff penalty, declaring that the Oyo State Accord Governorship Candidate, Adebayo Adelabu, and all the candidates of Accord for the House of Assembly were still in the race.

Nalado said: “The misinformation that Accord is in pact with the PDP in Olo State is far from the truth. We have always been aware of the anti-party antics and activities of the state Chairman, Mr Kolade Ojo, and those encouraging him.

‘We have it on good authority that they collected N500milliin from Governor Makinde who has been running helter-skelter having known that the people have pitched their tents with Accord and Adelabu,” he asserted.

The Accord National Chairman disclosed that the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State remained Adebayo Adelabu, who he said the party is convinced had the perfect pedigree to turn Oyo State into an enjoyable haven.

He revealed that the party leadership would soon meet to issue appropriate sanctions on the anti-party activities as evidenced in the action of Kolade Ojo, the party Secretary and those encouraging the anti party activity.

Similarly, the chairmen of Accord across the 33 Local Government Areas in the state had dissociated themselves from the action of the state Chairman and the Secretary, noting that there was no time they had any meeting to support any other candidate than Adebayo Adelabu.
