African Leaders Grace President Tinubu’s Inauguration

The inauguration of Nigeria’s new President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, was attended by many leaders from Africa and other parts of the world.
Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima took the Oaths of Office and of Allegiance administered on them by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kayode Ariwoola, at Eagle Square, Abuja.
Leaders at the event were Presidents Paul Biya of the Republic of Cameroun, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Macky Sall of Senegal and Sahle-Work Zewde of Ethiopia.

Among others at the event were President Mohamed Bazoum of Niger Republic, George Weah of Liberia and former President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.
Former Nigerian leaders who attended the inauguration were Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd); Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience.
The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and members of the former Federal Executive Council under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The swearing of Tinubu marks Nigeria’s 7th Consecutive Democratic Transition.
Meanwhile, immediate former President Buhari and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo left the venue of the inauguration after President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima took their oaths of office.
Former President Buhari left for Daura. Katsina State, while Prof. Osinbajo left for Lagos.
Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande said a brief reception would be held for the former vice president at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, immediately after he arrives there.
