Agency Plans 3D Animation Training for Children, Youths in Calabar

A non-profit organisation known as Airfesters has concluded arrangements to host a 3D animation training session for children and youths in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, southern Nigeria.

In a statement by the Creative Director, Mr. John Rekpene indicated that the training, which has been tagged “Airfesters Animation Festival would be attended by “Africa’s biggest animators, creators, and innovators.”
Rekpene noted that the event would nurture talents and empower youths, who participate in the second edition of the festival in Calabar, saying “the maiden edition was held last year in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State and it was very well attended.”
Continuing, he said, “our vision is to train 1000 children and youths in the intricate art of 3D animation. The festival is expected to serve as a catalyst for creative expression, youth empowerment, and job creation, which is in one with this year’s theme is ‘Fostering Youth Empowerment and Job Creation’.
“We are poised to make Cross River State the Disneyland of Africa. We have also earmarked a star prize of One Million Naira, while consolation prizes would be given to others. The reason for awarding prizes is to celebrate and incentivize exceptional talents we will discover at the festival,” the convener said.
According to him, the festival has received the support of the Cross River Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Technology, and a prominent digital education centre known as Aptech Computer Education Center and would hold from December 5th to 8th, 2023.
While urging parents, guardians and youths interested in developing their talents in animation, he announced that the agency would give priority attention to girls and young women to commemorate the United Nations 16 Days of Activism in the cross River state.
