Akwa Ibom State Deepens Cooperation With Nigerian Army

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in ensuring lasting peace and security across the State.

The Governor stated while receiving the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Oluyede, and his team at Government House, Uyo. 

He assured the delegation that the State Government would support intervention projects at Wellington Bassey Barracks in Abak to “to improve soldiers’ accommodation and further motivate them in service.”

“We have already supported projects at the 2 Brigade Cantonment in Nsit Ibom, and we will continue to partner with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies that help keep our State safe,” Governor Eno added.

The Governor further appealed for the establishment of a military operations outpost in the Oron coastal area “to strengthen security to strengthen security there.”

 “I am grateful that the Army Chief has graciously accepted this request,” he disclosed.

Governor Eno expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army for its collaboration with other security agencies, which he described as instrumental in making Akwa Ibom one of the most peaceful states in the country.

“I sincerely appreciate the Army’s collaboration with other agencies, which has made Akwa Ibom one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. Together, we’ll keep building a safe and prosperous State,” Eno expressed. 

The visit and commitments underscore the shared vision between the State and the Federal Government in advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises national security, peace, and stability as the bedrock for economic growth and development.

 By strengthening civil-military cooperation and enhancing security presence in strategic areas, Akwa Ibom State is aligning with the national drive to secure communities, address security concerns along coastal corridor, protect livelihoods, and sustain a united, prosperous Nigeria.
