The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has officially submitted a request to the Ministry of Youth and Sports so that Algeria can host the finals of the African Champions League and the 2020/2021 Confederation Cup, said the body at the end of the meeting of its federal office,

The request follows the opening by the African Football Confederation (CAF) of applications to host the finals of the continental club competitions for the current edition.

The FAF has also officially requested the supervision so that Algeria can host the final phase of CAN-2023 under 17 (U17).

National associations wishing to submit their candidacies must submit a file detailing the stadiums that can host matches, training grounds, accommodation sites as well as the government’s letter of guarantee by February 26 at the latest.

Since last season, the finals of the club competitions have been played over a single match.

The Confederation Cup final will take place on July 10 and the Champions League final will take place on July 17. However, CAF reserves the right to change the aforementioned dates.

It should be noted that four Algerian clubs are competing in the two African competitions.

They are CR Belouizdad and MC Alger in the group stage of the Champions League as well as ES Sétif and JS Kabylie in the 1/16 “bis” of the Confederation Cup.

As a reminder, CAF announced on January 18 the launch of the call for candidates for the organization of the finals of the Champions League and the 2020/2021 Confederation Cup, scheduled for next July.
