ALTON attributes Telecommunications development to quality leadership

The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), has  attributed the growth and  development in the  Telecommunications sector to good and quality leadership style.

The Chairman AlTON, Gbenga Adebayo gave the commendation during a meeting of the Ministerial Task force on NIN/SIM linkage exercise presided over by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy,which had in attendance industry operators and regulators.

He applauded the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami for his leadership and support to the sector.

Adebayo reaffirmed that the sector had never enjoyed the level of support and direction which has resulted to unprecedented developments in the sector.

He further noted that “the progress being recorded in the sector is purely as a result of the Minister’s uncommon proactive approach to issues and his unique problem-solving skills,” he maintained.

This was contained in a statement by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Communication Technology and Digital Economy Uwa Suleiman.

Also,  the Chief Executive Officer of Airtel, Segun Ogunsanya, disclosed that the operator was able to obtain a Right of Way (RoW) in the FCT Municipality within 48 hours.

This he said, was uncharted territory and highly commendable. “I am highly encouraged by the level of collaboration between the public and private sector, particularly in the Digital Economy sector as driven by Dr Pantami”.

Meanwhile the Chief Executive Officer of 9Mobile, Alan Sinfield,  noted that the active leadership and support of Dr Pantami and especially in his approval of Network Operators  as enrollment agents for the National Identification Number has increased the turnout for compliance by over 40%.
