AMAC 2022: Council boss pledges to leave legacies

The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the Nigerian Federal capital territory administration, FCTA, Abdullahi Adamu Candido has promised to bequeath legacies and institutions to the Council and its people.

Candido made the pledge while declaring AMAC media retreat open in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The Chairman who is ending his tenure in 2022, noted that he will continue to execute developmental projects and improving the well-being of the residents in such a way that would better their lives.

While scoring his administration high in the areas of institutional establishment and service delivery, the Chairman attributed his numerous achievements to the different approach adopted by the current administrations.

Candido listed some of the achievements and tasked successive administrations to keep up with his successes, sustain the legacies and institutional frameworks.

He listed some of them to include creation of AMAC Marshal, establishment of AMAC Micro finance Bank, AMAC Environmental Cadets and AMAC Property Investment Company, among others.

He also urged present and future council leadership at all the Area Councils to sit up, work through pressure and be resilient in the pursuit of their responsibilities following democratic processes.

Commending the FCT Administration for always releasing council’s allocations without tempering them, the AMAC boss advised for peaceful resolution of any issue between the councils and the FCTA.

According to him, “I must also commend the supervisory ministry (FCTA) for always allowing our (Councils’) statutory allocation to come to us. The area of collection of certain revenues was yet to be properly streamlined”.

Disclosing that his administration has approved disbursement of N26 million for scholarships to about 50 students, Candido also promised improved educational services, adding that the funds would be awarded to beneficiaries in two months’ time.

The retreat, with the theme, Media Appraisal of AMAC Governance: Focus on Candido’s Administration, had a lead paper, titled, Prospects and Way forward of Candido’s Administration which was presented by the University of Abuja’s director of Legislative and Democratic Studies, Associate Professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim.
