AMAC Chairman Cautions Tax Payers on Illegal Payments

The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Mr Christopher Zakka has cautioned the Tax Payers in the Council to always pay their Revenues through the AMAC account.
The Chairman stated this while briefing Journalists on the issue of fake tax officers who collect cash and refuse to remit into the designated account.
“The general  Public are hereby by advised not to pay cash to any one because paying cash is highly prohibited and against the AMAC rules and remember that when you pay in cash it is assumed that you have not pay at all.
“The Public are advised to call these telephone numbers 07055550346 or 07055555246 to confirm the authenticity and proper designated bank details before making any payments and evidence of payment will be verified by AMAC Tax Force.
“The Council reserves the right to revoke the licence of Technical partners who produce fake demand notice, the Council would regard such as criminal.”
Mr Zakka also noted that the council is assuring people that  it is mindful of the current economic situation in the country and  has adopted some measures of collecting taxes and levies without the use of force and said that the collection for this year will be very smooth.
In his response, the Chairman Abuja Municipal Council Mr Adamu Yusuf said they have arrested about  Sixty Eight fake tax officers who have been disguising under the Council’s name and made illegal collections of tax and levies.
“We have digitalised our website where all the records of the AMAC taxes and levies Payers will be on a single portal, the payments they made, the amount they’re owing the Council, Date of payment amongst other vital information of the Payers.
“We also go for supervision with our mobile Court team to arrest and prosecute the fake tax officers who are tarnishing the image of the council, more measures are put  in  place in ensuring that our taxes and levis are being paid  into the AMAC account in order to provide infrastructures to the local Communities in the Council.”
