America’s Selena Gomez Honors Rema at 2023 Billboard Music Awards

American Star Selena Gomez has acknowledged Rema at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. Calm Down has once again achieved another milestone and continues to gain global recognition. ‘Calm Down’ by Rema and Selena Gomez won the ‘Top Afrobeat Song’ at the 2023 Billboard Music Award.

As Afrobeats continues to undergo massive transformation including recognition at International Awards. The Billboard Music Award created categories to recognize and appreciate Afrobeat namely; ‘Top Afrobeat Song’ and ‘Top Afrobeat Artist’.

Rema and Burna Boy clinched both categories at the Billboard Music Awards, presented by the Marriott Bonvoy that took place on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Burna Boy won the award for ‘Top Afrobeat Artists’, whereas Rema and Selena Gomez won ‘Top Afrobeat Song’ for ‘Calm Down’.
The performances and award celebrations took place at different locations across the globe and were live-streamed. During Selena Gomez’s acceptance speech for ‘Calm Down’, the singer gave props to Rema by saying, “Thank you guys so, so much for this award. This is honestly Rema’s doing. He chose me to be a part of such an incredible song. So I want to thank him and thank all of you for streaming and listening and I wish we could be there. But thank you!”.
