Anambra 2021: Re-instated PDP State Executive validate Ozigbo’s candidature

The recently-reinstated State Executive of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Anambra State, led by Mr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, has resumed office after the judgment of the Court of Appeal reinstating it.
The Executive led by Mr Nwobu was dissolved by the national leadership of the party, following a court judgment in a suit instituted by Samuel Anyakorah, which challenged the leadership replaced by Chukwudi Umeaba, whose faction recognised Senator Uba as the factional PDP candidate for November 6, 2021 election.
The Abuja Division Court of Appeal in its judgment reinstated the Nwobu-led executive, thereby validating the candidature of Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, who emerged from a parallel primary election conducted by the party and supported by the Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee.
Nwobu, in a media briefing announced the return of his executive at the PDP secretariat in Awka, the state capital and said the Appeal Court judgment had totally brought to rest the issues about who is the authentic candidate of the party.
“I thank the party’s Board of Trustees members in the state for their unalloyed support to him and worked to ensure I return as Chairman. I pledge to sack members who are unwilling to turn away from anti-party activities”, he said.
On the reported resignation of a member of the party’s BOT, Senator Joy Emordi, Nwobu said the party was truly worried each time a member, especially a top ranking party official, resigns, assuring that his leadership will not fail to put machinery in place to reach out to its members and bring them back to its fold.
“It’s sad that some party members got a court order, which they know cannot stand but to disrupt what we are doing, my executive only made a sacrifice by stepping aside to ensure that a candidate emerged.
We were not surprised about the court order, which removed the Anambra State PDP executive; it all started in 2002″, he said.
However, the State Chairman promised that the executive and party members would work for Ozigbo to ensure his victory to Government House.
