The digital transformation of Anambra State’s public service gained further traction as the Civil Service Commission received a fresh consignment of digital tools from the state government.
The initiative, spearheaded by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and boosting service delivery across the public sector.

The handover ceremony, held at the Commission’s headquarters in Awka, the state capital, was led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata (CFA). According to Angela Nwanodu, the Public Relations Officer of the ICT Agency, the deployment marks another milestone in the governor’s roadmap for a smarter and more digitally enabled state administration.
“This handover is part of a broader journey that began in 2023,” said CFA, recalling the pilot phase of the initiative, which saw the distribution of over 200 state-of-the-art laptops and desktop computers to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as political appointees.
Since then, the program has expanded to include the State Fire Service, 2,000 newly recruited teachers, Local Government Heads of Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Special Duties, the Disability Rights Commission, and now the Civil Service Commission.
Agbata also highlighted the ongoing Smart School project, currently being piloted in 21 schools across the state, as a model for digital learning and 21st-century classroom transformation.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Civil Service Commission, Chairman Mr. Tony Ezenwaka (NPOM) expressed gratitude to the governor for what he described as a “timely intervention.
“We have been praying for this. Thanks to the ICT Agency and Mr. Governor’s vision, we can now streamline our operations and enhance productivity. We also look forward to training opportunities for our staff to maximise the use of these tools.”
Agbata stated that the latest deployment emphasises Governor Soludo’s continued commitment to e-governance and public sector reform. “It forms part of his broader strategy to equip state institutions with the tools and capacity needed to meet the evolving demands of modern governance through technology,” he said.
