Anambra State Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has expressed his shock and profound sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in the United Kingdom at the age of 82.
In a condolence message released by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo described Buhari’s death as the end of an era for Nigeria, highlighting his stature as a significant figure in the nation’s history and a dedicated patriot.
The Governor noted that Buhari’s life exemplified unwavering commitment to integrity, discipline, and the relentless pursuit of a better Nigeria.
Governor Soludo reflected on Buhari’s journey from his early days as a military officer to his roles as Head of State and democratically elected President.
He emphasised Buhari’s deep love for Nigeria and his people, recalling the notable “War Against Indiscipline” campaign during Buhari’s first term as military head of state, which underscored his firm stance against public indiscipline.
Furthermore, the Governor acknowledged Buhari’s pivotal contributions to national development, particularly in the areas of security, infrastructure, and the fight against corruption.
He commended Buhari for championing initiatives aimed at enhancing the economy, improving agricultural productivity, and safeguarding the welfare of all Nigerians.
