Anambra: Human Rights Commission seeks partnership with Justice Ministry

The National Human Rights Commission (NNRC) seeks the Partnership of State Ministry of Justice for the protection of the fundamental human rights of people of Anambra state in South-East Nigeria.

The state coordinator, Barr. Obinna Maduforo said this while on a courtesy visit to the Attorney-General’s office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

Barr. Maduforo at the visit congratulated Prof. Sylvia Ifemeje on her appointment as the Attorney-General of the state, and explained that the commission wants to strengthen its partnership with the ministry to ensure that the promotion of Human rights of the citizens is being protected.

 “This commission serves as an extra-judicial mechanism for the respect and promotion of human rights as well as provides avenues for public enlightenment, research and dialogue on human rights,” he reiterated.

Furthermore, the state coordinator said that the commission is empowered to intervene in any form of right infringements in cases like broken marriages, child trafficking,  rape among others.

Prof. Sylvia Ifemeje while responding to their requests appreciated their visit and assured them of the ministry’s maximum support and co-operation for easy justice delivery in the state.
