The member representing Anambra North district at the upper legislative chamber, Senator Tony Nwoye, has concluded arrangements for the distribution of empowerment materials worth millions of naira to over 12,000 beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries were selected from different parts of the senatorial zone and across the state.
Items displayed to be distributed by the legislator include sewing machines, grinding machines, generators, bags of rice and canoes.
Speaking during an empowerment gathering at All Saints Cathedral, which was preceded by a thanksgiving church service at All Saints and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Onitsha, the Senator said he was motivated to give back to society.
He added that the gesture was in fulfilment of his campaign promises aimed at improving the standard of living of his constituents, while also giving glory to God for what He has done for him.
While stating that the event has no political undertone, he lauded the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and Prince Arthur Eze for their impactful contributions to his political career.
The lawmaker pledged to continue to empower his constituents, pointing out that he had attracted N34 billion federal government intervention funding for the Otucha–Nzam–Ida–Abuja road project.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Ugochukwu Emeh, observed that the legislator had achieved a lot within six months of representation of his constituency.
He noted that politicians elected under the platform of the party had continued to perform well across the nation.
He called on the electorate to work for the success of the party in the battle to occupy the State’s Government House.
In his contribution, the Chairman of the Labour Party Caucus, House of Representatives, Hon Afam Ogene testified that the Lawmaker has shown the way for others to follow and urged him not to relent.
While commending him for the empowerment initiative, Hon Ogene attributed his political success story to the will of God.
