Anambra State Assembly Confirms Re-Appointment Of Transition Committee Chairmen

The Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed the re-appointment of the Transition Committee Chairmen and councilors of the twenty-one Local government areas in the state. 

The House confirmed their appointments in line with section 208 of the Local government law during plenary as requested by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Meanwhile, the Transition Committee chairmen of two Local Government Councils were changed.

They are Mr. Kingsley Obi of Ihiala Local government area and his Awka North counterpart, Chief Emma Ucheze.

Chief ThankGod Anagor replaces Mr. Emma Ucheze as the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local government area, while Mr. Anayor Orjiakor replaces Mr. Kingsley Obi as the Transition Committee Chairman of Ihiala Local government area.

The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze charged the Transition Committee Chairmen to work with Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the House to achieve the Governor’s vision of building a liveable and prosperous homeland for the people of Anambra and read out the confirmation of their appointments, while the lawmakers supported it through a voice vote.

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local government, Chief Neville Uchendu, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for reappointing him to serve the Local government.

He assured the Governor and members of the Assembly that he would continue to work in line with his vision for Anambra state.

In appreciation on behalf of his colleagues, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ayamelum Local government area, Mr. Livinus Onyenwe assured the House that the Transition Committee Chairmen would continue to live up to expectations.

However, the transition Committee Chairmen and councillors are to pilot the affairs of their various local government areas for three months.
