Addressing the participants, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, described leadership as all about building humanity and addressing issues that confront the society for greater good.
“To become future leaders, you must work hard in your chosen fields and constantly develop yourselves.
“Do not shy away from responsibilities and always embrace those virtues that will propel you to positive aspects of life,” Dr. Omenugha charged them.
The State Co-ordinator of 100 Women Lobby
Group, Anambra State Chapter, Mrs Ifeyinwa Unachukwu, said research has shown that females are underrepresented in Nigeria’s governance, decision-making and leadership space.
Mrs Unachukwu stated that it is against this backdrop that the group deemed it fit to train the young female leaders on the importance of having women in governance and increase sensitization to the need for women’s leadership skills to be developed from the cradle.
“The young leaders need to build their self esteem, have positive thinking, be focused, and avail themselves of any opportunity that will improve their ideas and learning as well as believe in what they can offer the society,” said Miss Chidinma Oramali, a resource person at the training.
While appreciating the convener, the Vice-President, Students’ Union Government, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Miss Ifunanya Okoye said that learning from older colleagues, sharing from their experiences, ideas and progress will be a stepping stone for them to achieve success in life.
