Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has condemned, in strong terms, the Sunday evening attack on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s Convoy, which left over five persons dead.
Ubah, who represents Anambra South Senatorial District in the red chamber of the National Assembly, narrowly escaped death on Sunday when shooters suspected as assassins attacked his convoy and killed his aides and police orderlies.
The incident, which happened at Enugwu Ukwu community, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, saw Ubah’s vehicle riddled with bullets with bodies of some of his orderlies and aides lying dead in their cars.
Reacting to the incident, Governor Soludo described the attack as the “last ditched-effort of a sinking boat” by criminal elements in the state.
Soludo, who condemned the attack in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, said his administration was determined to wipe out every act of criminality in the state.
He reassured the people of Anambra State that all security agencies were on full alert to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous attack and make them face the full wrath of the law.
However, the governor commiserated with the senator and the families of his aides who were killed and the state commissioner of police for the policemen who also lost their lives.
