The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the adoption of the consensus mode for its 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Primary Election.
The decision follows the withdrawal of one of its cleared aspirants, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo.
The Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka disclosed this in a statement.
“In a letter to the party, Mrs Omolayo conveyed her decision to withdraw from the contest and endorse Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, as a consensus candidate, and expressed her support for any arrangement adopted by the Party in nominating its flag bearer in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2022 and the Party’s Constitution,” the statement reads.
Morka noted that “the decision has been formally communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a letter dated October 13, 2025.”
The APC stated that the process complies with Sections 84(9) and (11) of the Electoral Act and released the following timetable for the consensus nomination exercise;
- Delegate Congress –Saturday, October 25, 2025
- Delegate Congress Appeal –Sunday, October 26, 2025
- Special Nomination Congress to Ratify Consensus Candidate – Monday, October 27, 2025.

The party commended Mrs. Omolayo for her sportsmanship and commitment to party unity.
It urged members and stakeholders in Ekiti State to remain united and work toward the party’s victory in the June 2026 Governorship Election.
