The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sa’idu Kamilu, as the winner of the Kauran Namoda South State Assembly Constituency election in Zamfara.
According to the Returning Officer of the election, Professor Lawal Sa’ad, who announced the results after collation of the supplementary election outcome and harmonisation with previous results, the APC candidate got 8,182 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Lawal Muhammad, scored 5,543 votes.

“Having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest votes, I declare Hon. Sa’idu Kamilu of the APC the winner and therefore returned elected,” Professor Sa’ad said.
It could be recalled that the by-election which was held on Saturday, the 16th of August, 2025, was declared inconclusive as a result of the margin of differences between the leading political party, APC, which scored 7,001 and the first runner, the PDP, which scored 5,339, which is 1,662.
The margin was less than the total number of PVCs collected in the registration areas where the election was cancelled and had to go for a supplementary election.
The supplementary election was therefore held on Thursday, the 21st of August, 2025, where the winner emerged.
The by-election follows the death of the former representative, Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Kasuwar Daji, who was elected under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and passed away on April 9.
