A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Gombe State, Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, has praised Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for a bold and strategic move to strengthen security and intelligence gathering across the state through grassroots reforms.
Speaking to journalists in Gombe, Dr. Gwamna commended the Governor’s decision to create 13 new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), to complement the existing 11 Local Government Areas.
He noted that the initiative had already began yielding positive results, particularly in the area of security.
According to the APC stalwart, the establishment of the LCDAs reflected Governor Yahaya’s deep understanding of the security realities facing communities and his commitment to proactive governance.
“We must commend Governor Inuwa Yahaya for this visionary governance structure at the grassroots. By bringing governance closer to the people, the administration has significantly enhanced service delivery and strengthened intelligence gathering, which is critical in tackling insecurity,” Dr. Gwamna said.
He explained that grassroots governance remained the most effective administrative approach, especially in a state where a large percentage of the population resides in rural communities.
“With decision-making structures closer to the people, citizens are more empowered to participate actively and provide timely information that can prevent criminal activities before they occur,” he said.
Dr. Gwamna noted that the LCDAs were designed to focus on four core areas of security, basic education, primary healthcare, and agriculture, in line with their mandate.
He noted that the targeted approach would not only improve development outcomes, but also ensure better protection of lives and property.
“Through improved intelligence gathering at the community level, security agencies are now better positioned to receive timely and credible information. This has strengthened efforts to prevent and abort criminal activities,” Dr. Gwamna said.
The APC chieftain further urged the people of Gombe State to continue supporting the governor’s initiatives, describing the LCDAs as a transformative policy that promotes bottom-up, transparent and accountable leadership.
He added that Governor Yahaya’s reform agenda demonstrated purposeful leadership and a clear commitment to sustainable peace, security and inclusive development in Gombe State.
