A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Saliu Mustapha, who hails from Kwara State, has picked the nomination form for the office of National Chairmanship of the party at the national convention scheduled for March 26. He is the first Chairmanship aspirant of the party to pick the nomination form.
The Director-General of the Saliu Mustapha Campaign Organisation (SAMCO), Balla Usman, took the nomination forms on Mallam Mustapha, the former National Deputy Chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.
APC’s Deputy Director of Organisation, Sabiu Bello, handed over the two forms after receiving the mandatory N20m from Mustapha’s representatives
In a statement, Dapo Okubanjo, media aide to the aspirant, said he was the best candidate for the job and picked the form early to show seriousness.
“This is a clear confirmation that I’m in the race and a testament to the seriousness I’ve shown since I threw my hat into the ring.
“Now that I’ve collected the forms on the same day they were made available, I would intensify consultations with key party stakeholders to let them know why I’m the best person to get the job done.
“I, however, want to express my appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for paving way for what we have just done today,” he said.
It is also believed that two former Nasarawa State governors, Abdullahi Adamu and Tanko Al-Makura, are interested in the APC national chairmanship position.
