APC Congress: Zakari Jikan Toro emerges Niger State Chairman

Alhaji Zakaria Jikan Toro has been unanimously adopted as Chairman of the All-Progressive Congress (APC) in Niger State, North, Central Nigeria.

While commending the process of the party congress in the state, Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, described the congress as peaceful and fair.

The Governor who stated this after the state congress at the Idris Legbo Kutigi Conference Center in Minna, the state Capital on Saturday, appealed to the new party executives to manage the party properly and to be just and fair to every party member.

He further tasked other contestants that lost at the congress election on the need to go along with other Party officials and stakeholders for the progress of the party.

“We started with a peaceful ward congress before the state congress,” Governor Bello added.

Alhaji Haliru zakari jikan toro, who emerged as the consensus Chairman of the APC in the state, also applauded the process as “free, fair and transparent”.

He further promised to carry every member of the party along as they prepare for the 2023 general election in the state.

The new APC Chairman however said his administration would look at the possibility of reconciling aggrieved members of the party who were reported to have held a parallel congress in the state.

Other party officials adopted at the Niger state congress include; Abdulsalam Madaki; Deputy Chairman, Ibrahim Khalil; Secretary. Isa Umaru Aliyu; PWD Leader, Suleman Abdullahi; Youth Leader.  All the EXCOs were adopted and affirmed after consensus.

The report shows that some aggrieved members of the APC in Niger state held a parallel congress in the state withNasiru Yusuf Ubandiya elected as Chairman.
