APC female candidate returns elected in Ijumu constituency, Kogi State

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the All Progressives Party (APC) candidate, Ms. Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya as the winner of Ijumu State House of Assembly election.
The Local Government Electoral Officer, Mrs. Grace Abalaka Haruna made the declaration at the end of the collation exercise at the INEC office in Iyara.
Mrs. Haruna said the APC candidate scored a valid votes of 8,568 votes above her opponent of African Democratic Party (ADP) who polled 3,899 and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 2,648.
Reacting to the victory, the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taofiq Isah, described Omotayo’s victory as a victory for democracy being the only woman elected as a state Legislator from the Western Senatorial District of the state.

He commended INEC for the transparency displayed as well as the voters for supporting the APC candidate to emerge victorious.
Also speaking, the Kogi State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Victor Omofaiye ascribed the election outcome to the popularity of the ruling APC, which is popular in Ijumu Local Government Area.
He congratulated the winner, the party and all stakeholders for working tirelessly to ensure the victory of Omotayo Adeleye Ishaya.
