APC National Chairman Seeks Unity Among Party Members in Rivers State
Abdul Mohammed Isa, Abuja.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has urged APC members in Rivers State to exercise caution and avoid exacerbating the internal party conflicts in the state.
Ganduje made the remark during a meeting with factional leaders of the party in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Emphasizing the strategic significance of Rivers State in Nigeria due to its oil resources and substantial population, Ganduje stressed the importance of a united front for electoral success.
He underscored the value of a substantial population in elections and its role as an asset to any political party.
Recalling past political engagements in Rivers State, Ganduje noted the challenges faced by the APC since 2015, including losing and regaining government positions.
He acknowledged the party’s fragmentation and emphasized the detrimental impact of litigations on the party’s cohesion in the state.
Expressing gratitude for the support that led to the party’s success in the country’s general elections, Ganduje urged party members to maintain focus, unity, and adherence to the APC constitution.
The APC national chairman cautioned against unnecessary analyses and litigations that could further divide the party and hinder progress, advocating for a collective effort to restore the party’s strength and cohesiveness in Rivers State.
A delegation representing factional members of the APC in Rivers State, led by Chief Tony Okocha, visited the party’s national chairman to discuss the ongoing disputes among party members in the state.
A similar group also met the national chairman for ratification of the party’s activities in Rivers State, highlighting the importance of addressing internal conflicts for the party’s continued progress.
